Cheong weekendAs sian as i was, i am seriously wondering if i have overdone it this time. A week back, i booked myself on a train to Oxford. Was hoping to see Kathrin, but she had other plans. yes, so that was me just booking without much thoughts, expecing everyone to be around. And was contemplating if i should contact TH as well. but didn't do that.
On wed, i was tempted by Miss tan's portsmouth exciting shops. That was it. on thursday, i thought i should give myself a treat and head there on sat. oki, booked myself on a train at 8:00 am from london to Portsmouth. Had to wake up at 6:00 to get all ready etc. There by 9:30 for the shops to open. And then i planned to only head back to london with the 1745 train that takes me into London at 1923. with that, i can head to oxford circus to meet lisa. Whao hoo...sounds full eh? Indeed. slept on my way there. arrived there, all excited and careful not to spend too much time in the first shop. so i quickly browsed through. first purchase of the day was a lavander EDT thing from L'occitane. damage: 13 pounds (still can tahan) and then it all went downhill after that. I over estimated my stamina. By 1.30, i covered all the shops i wanted to cover -white stuff, fat face, mexx, GAP, Elle, FCUK...almost all. and you know what..the place isn't as huge as i thought it to be. rest. had to rest. the mexx bag on hand was killing me. who says clothes aren't heavy?
* ting ting --end of round 1*
*round 2*
Sat on a bench for 1/2 hr. then decided to hit more shops. went to burberry and ended up getting a scarf and a sheepy. yep. isn't he a cutie? Burberry sheepy. he's called checked. (by the way, he's meant to be white. not too good a photographer. esp after seeing TH's photoblog...i'm even more demoralised) anyway, burberry damage...quite a bit.
*Ting ting- end of round 2 -resting are: starbucks*
*Round 3*
went back to Mexx and bought lots more trousers. called lisa and found out that she has already arrived. good....
waiting for time to pass is bad. lugging 4 huge heavy bags to do that is even worse.
finally 545 came and i headed back to london with my 4 large bags. an ah ma looked and at my stuff and asked if i spent all my money. i guess it's not like bicester or some outlet where people go there with one aim: Shop. at this place, it's more of a place for the neigbourhood residents. of cos, these people can pop in whenever they want. but since i paid my way down, i better make sure it's worth the trip right? well, i fear the number on my credit card bill next month. that's all that i can say.
met up with Lisa and Mr B for dinner at the korean place. good dinner. have not seen lisa on this side of the world before. but when there is a first, there will be a 2nd right? the only thing i would suspect is that if Mr B is here for only a couple of months, then this 2nd time will probably probably never come. having a jealous moment here. 10 years pal isn't as much compared to......ah well. i am not complaing right ? *sheepish grin*
26 Aug ended with dinner and me trugging back home with my 4 heavy bags. it's the price to pay for shopping i guess. my hands need some loving care after this whole thing i can assure you. my shoulders too.
And instead of resting, what do i have lined up?
27th is another wonderful day.
blew lots of money in portsmouth made me think that i should stay quietly in oxford and JUST do touristy things. bicester may sound tempting, but i have not really bought much there.
UNFORTUNATELY, i was looking to get this huge scarf from burberry that i can wrap myself in. and guess what, i saw that bicester has a burberry outlet. big mistake.
headed off in this crowded train from paddington to oxford. hopped onto the bus to the bus stop. lingered around for 45min for the bus to bicester. After coughing up a whopping 5 pound for the return fare, i was all set for at least 2hr of browsing. next bus back was either 1515 or 1623. hopefully i have enough time. that was the thought BEFORE i went there. spent 1/2 hr in coast and was thinking, good this is going well. well, it all went downhill subsequently.
didn't see anything interesting. the most qi gek part was that when i was in burberry, this is this siao hongkey. accidently bumped into her and she pretended to be kind. "oh sorry love"...she then immediately switched to cantonese and referred me to a "fei por" ie fat woman. demoralised. sigh. ah well, lao nu ren, what makes you think u are any better?
lingered around for the 1517 bus to come. finally it did and then saw TH's sms. I sms him when i was getting into oxford. was hoping to meet up for lunch or something. called him and say i am in oxford. well, the thing is that apparently he moved to banbury a year ago. oops...see, expect people to be around. he was around this morning for church, which i thought he would be. but i guess i didn't want to call and wans't too sure what time his service ends. oops. missed chance. ah well, there's always another time. i felt imbalanced after speaking to him. he had lots to do and yet he has to concentrate on his phd. i had time but not willing to find things to do. maybe this is called nua-ing.
walked through the whole of oxford aimlessly before heading back to paddington. slept through the entire ride, which was good. ended the evening with dinner with aunty sarah and family.
sleep now lorraine,
tomorrow will no longer be a cheong day.
instead it will be a long day at work.
on a bank holiday monday.
well, hopefully, this way, tues will be better. and the week flow better.
you cannot imagine how much this 3AM thing is on my mind. i even see it in my sleep. and i keep jotting down stuff i needed to think about and add in my presentation summary.
comp is never easily available. i guess you have to work for it. and i am really **really** hoping that the work will yield something.
if all things fail, i guess i did try right? and i also did my part in reminding MB how underpaid i am. i hope that made an impact....and not result in annoyance. *shrug*
anyway, 1:57am.
time to sleep. work tomorrow.
